A Beginning
Hello!
I’m so glad youre here! My name is Kristen, and I live in St. Louis, MO, and this is Hooks, Books, + Wanderlust!
HB&W is a place where I will share my love of crochet, reading, and traveling and a few other tidbits along the way. These are my top three favorite hobbies, but I do a smattering of other things too like sew, cook, bake, and random DIY projects. I love writing too, so this is also a creative outlet for me in that regard.
I have had a small Etsy shop for over a year now, called LaBelleVieMaisOui, and it was a way to do the things that bring me joy and hopefully create something for someone else that will bring the receiver some happiness as well. It’s mainly digital designs in nature: SVG cut files, prints, and invitation and party supplies. It’s been wonderful, but I needed more. I needed a way to get the message behind it out to the world. Thus, HB&W was born.
Breast cancer, as cliche as it sounds, gave me a new perspective on life. Life is hard, and can be grueling, and tedious, and seem like it is the same thing day in and day out. But there is so much GOOD in the world too. It’s in seeing the sunrise on a crisp winter morning or having a cup of tea while listening to the sounds of birds chirping in the sunshine. It’s seeing the simple kindnesses of your fellow human beings. It’s doing the things that lift your soul, if just for a minute during the day. The idea for this blog stemmed from wanting to share with the world the things that I’m passionate about and that bring joy to my life…my way of living la belle vie, or the good life. It is my hope that maybe I can inspire others to find their joy too!
