Video Pattern
Are you more of a video person? I’ve created video for this pattern showing you how to make this ornament from start to finish! The written pattern follows below.
Pattern
This pattern is worked in the round. All rounds except R4 are joined. Stitch counts are given at the end of rounds in ( )s. Round by round photos, as well as a close-up photo of the ornament can be found after these instructions. Additionally, a video showing how to make this pattern from start to finish is available above.
PART 1: BODY
Begin with a Magic Circle.
NOTE: Find my magic circle tutorial here.
R1: Ch 1, sc 18 into magic circle, sl st to the top of the first sc of the round to join. Tighten magic circle slightly. (18)
R2: Ch 1, hdc 24 into magic circle, working around the sc sts of R1, sl to top of the first hdc to join. (24)
R3: Ch 1, puff, ch 5, sk 3, repeat from * 5 more times, sl to top of the first puff to join. (6 puff, 6 ch-5 sp)
NOTE: Find my puff stitch tutorial here.
PRO TIP: When you see an * in your row or round instructions, that indicates the stitch pattern to repeat across the row or around the round.
R4: *Sc 9 into ch-5 space, sl st to top of puff, repeat from * 5 more times. (54 sc, 6 sl st)
NOTE: There is NO chain 1 to start this round; you start your round immediately with your stitches going into the chain 5 space.
NOTE: There is NO slip stitch to join. The last stitch of the round should be the slip stitch into the first puff from R3.
R5: [Hdc 3, dc 2, picot, dc 2, hdc 3] into ch-5 sp, working around the sc sts of R4, sl to top of puff, repeat 5 more times, join with a slip stitch. Tighten magic circle again, if needed. (36 hdc, 24 dc, 6 picot)
NOTE: Find my picot tutorial here.
NOTE: There is NO chain 1 to start this round.
NOTE: The slip stitches in for this round will be worked into the same location as they were in R4, the top of your puff stitches from R3. Also, the slip stitch to join the round should come AFTER the last slip stitch into the last puff.
Tie off and weave in ends.
Round by Round Photos

Blocking
Place wax paper over your blocking mat, and spray both sides of your ornament with stiffening spray (I use Aileen’s Stiffen Quick). Pin your ornament to the mat at the picots, stretching the ornament slightly to get a nice shape. Allow to dry. This process is documented in the video at the 23:00 mark for this pattern here.

PART 2: ORNAMENT HOOK
If you feel like it, you can make your own hook to add to your ornament! You’ll need 3” eye pins and a pair of needle nose pliers, both of which can usually be found in the jewelry aisle of your local craft store. You can find this part of the pattern in the video here.
Step 1: Use your needle nose pliers to open the eye of the eye pin.
Step 2: Slip the opened eye through the middle chain of one of your picots, then pinch the eye closed with your pliers.
Step 3: Holding the middle of your pin, use your pliers to carefully bend the post into a hook shape. Begin by bending the tip slightly, moving the pliers down the pin a bit, then repeat until you have a hook shape.

Woohooo! You’ve just made one super cute ornament to hang on your tree this year!
Want some other ideas? You can make them to use as present toppers and take your gift wrap to the next level. Or, you could make a bunch and string them together to make a garland! OR…Christmas Flower Earrings, anyone? Check out the mod below!
Earring Mod
Use #10 crochet thread with a 1.25mm hook and make this pattern twice! Attach a pair of fish hook earring findings the same way you did when you attached the eye pin in the pattern above, opening the eye with a pair of needle nose pliers, attaching at a picot, then gently closing the eye.
I hope you enjoyed this pattern and found it easy to follow! If not, or if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask! Email me at HooksBooksAndWanderlust@gmail.com.
I would LOVE to see your make! Should you choose to share, use the tag(s) #ChristmasFlowerOrnament and /or #LaBelleVieForMe to share your makes with me @HooksBooksWanderlust on Instagram and/or Facebook!
Happy stitching!

The code is NOT working?
Hooks Books & Wanderlust
Everything appears to be in working order. If you copied and pasted it, make sure you didn’t accidentally grab a space after the code. Also, double check that you copied the correct code. In the round up post, it comes underneath the picture of the ornament on Claire’s page. I hope this helps!
