It’s time for a book review that crosses over with my crochet content!

I first “met” Ana-Maria back in 2021 when she tested my Iris Shawl and Pathways to Hope Beanie patterns. She’s one of the kindest, most supportive people I’ve met in the crochet community, and her talent and creativity absolutely blow me away. When she asked if she could send me a copy of her upcoming book, Reversible Crochet Sweaters, I couldn’t say “yes” fast enough! I just knew it was going to be something special. Now that it’s here in my hands, I can confirm: it’s every bit as amazing as I expected.

This book focuses on interlocking crochet (also known as interwoven, intermeshing, or double filet crochet) and includes 7 collections featuring a total of 16 stunning, completely reversible designs—everything from garments to accessories. Each design is modeled by Ana-Maria herself and beautifully photographed. Plus, there are plenty of clear, close-up images that help you see exactly how each piece comes together.

I love how thoughtfully this book is laid out. It starts with foundational information—everything from stitch abbreviations and gauge swatching tips to a detailed explanation of the interlocking technique and even the basics of garment construction. There are printed rulers (imperial and metric!) right inside the covers for easy swatch measuring—such a clever and practical touch.

As someone whose own designs focus heavily on teaching, I really appreciate that she didn’t just drop the patterns in and expect readers to know how to use the technique. The educational sections are clear and easy to follow, which makes this book an incredible resource for anyone wanting to learn or refine interlocking crochet.

Each collection begins with a page dedicated to the inspiration behind the designs, followed by stitch charts, schematics, gauge swatch patterns, and then the patterns themselves. The layout makes what might look complex feel manageable and approachable, breaking each design down into clear, bite-sized steps. These are pieces you’ll feel so proud to wear, so get your “Thanks, I made it!” ready, because you’re going to want to show them off!

All of the patterns use sport or DK weight yarn, which makes them light, wearable, and perfect for layering. Personally, I’m torn between starting with the Tessellation, Wavelength, or Kaleidoscope collections—they’re all so gorgeous!
