Synopsis

Some witches were born to dance in shadows.

The Otherworld is dying, and Tamsyn Pride is trapped inside it. Back in Much Wenlock, the dead walk freely through the streets.

The Archbishop’s thirty-year plan is finally coming to fruition – but he’s made one crucial mistake…he left Annalise Pride alive.

Meanwhile, Ellis Rowlands has spent years searching for his missing family. As magic begins to return to Britain and old wounds tear open, will he ever learn what became of his wife and daughter before it’s too late?

As the shadows rise, the past refuses to stay buried, and the Pride family’s darkest secret is about to surface.

This was my pick for my 2025 Book Challenge for October: Something Witchy or Mystery/Thriller. For more recommended reads, see my blog post here.

The Witch of Shadows, book 3 in The Arcane Tales of Tamsyn Pride series by Natasha Bache, picks up shortly after Sister of the Moon‘s ending. It took a while to find its rhythm, and I found myself struggling to stay engaged at first. Part of that might be on me. There was quite a gap between reading this and the previous book, and the lack of recap made it tricky to reorient myself in the story. Once the plot finally picked up, though, it became much harder to put down. The pacing still had its ups and downs, but there were definitely moments that pulled me back in.

Unfortunately, the ending felt a bit anticlimactic and left me unsatisfied. Between the uneven pacing and the underwhelming conclusion, this installment wasn’t my favorite in the series. I’m not sure yet if the buildup here is enough to carry me into the next book, but we’ll see.

Until next time,
